Surveillance video camera systems are utilized by the York Suburban School District on school property and on buses to enhance the safety of our students. The school district may use the information gathered for disciplinary and/or legal action for inappropriate behaviors as defined by district policy and guidelines.

Did You Know...




 ... Our elementary programs support students reading nightly for 15 minutes at home.





... A community grant makes it possible for students at Valley View and Yorkshire to visit the Strand Capitol to see literacy come to life in an annual STAGE THE PAGE event.


   ...The first day of Winter Sports:  November 16, 2015.  




 ...The elementary schools have a partnership with Big Brothers, Big Sisters creating partnerships and friendships among our younger and older students.



...HS fall athletic teams include:  football, boys cross country, girls cross country, field hockey, girls volleyball, cheerleading, boys soccer, girls soccer, boys golf, girls golf, & girls tennis. 





...Reading Specialists and Math Specialists provide intervention to our students and also provide professional development to our staff.



   East York and Indian Rock offer instrumental music lessons to students beginning in the 4th grade. Students in grade 5 have the opportunity to participate in chorus, band, and orchestra groups.




..Students in second grade enjoy a STEP UP DAY to help transition from primary to intermediate buildings.




...   Each elementary building has a Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) that meets monthly to plan for special student activities.





...Our elementary schools are configured as two primary (K-2) schools and two intermediate (3-5) schools.


   Valley View and Yorkshire Elementary students enjoy an annual Book Parade which coincides with ‘Read  Across America’.



...The Homecoming festivities begin with the YSSD parade on Thursday, October 1st



 ...The Homecoming football game will be against Ephrata on Friday, October 2nd with kickoff at 7:00pm.


... The Homecoming Dance will be held on Saturday, October 3rd. 



 ... During November, all four elementary schools participate in the Salvation Army Canned Good Drive.


...The boys cross country team will be defending its’ PIAA state championship this fall.


 ... Mr. Alex Rosenkrans, an alumnus of East York Elementary School , is currently serving as a long-term substitute at East York Elementary!  Welcome back, Alex!



...The boys and girls cross county teams will defend their District III crowns this fall.





...The girls swim team will defend its District III championship this winter.




 ... Yorkshire Elementary was built in 2010 and is a LEED Certified School : Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.



...Look for East York and Indian Rock students at the  Communities That Care Variety Show at YSHS on November 21, 2015 at 7 PM.

...The track was re-surfaced for the start of the 2015-16 school year.



...Grades 4-5 students at East York and Indian Rock participate in Orange and Black Day each year in May to promote unity among our schools.




... We have YS spirit!! Our elementary schools have spirit days to show we are YS proud!!



... Indian Rock hosts an annual Fall Festival in October open to the public- this year on October 3rd from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM .  See you at the Rock!

    ...The Byrnes Health Education Center provides programming for our first and second graders each year thanks to grant funding and PTO support. 


   ...Ready Teddy, Yorkie Bear, Spike and the Roadrunner, our elementary school mascots, help build school spirit !




    ...Elementary students are invited to participate in the YS Homecoming traditions: marching in the Homecoming Parade, cheering at the Powder Puff Football game, and participating in the bonfire pep rally.
